Sekian. Terima kasih.

KUCHING: P a r t i B e r s a t u Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth and the State Barisan Nasional (BN) in general, will always be close to the people, particularly the younger generation.

State BN and PBB Youth Chief Datuk Haji Fadillah Yusuf said that as far as he knew, the State BN Youth, comprised the youth sections of the state BN component parties, was always on the ground with the people, not only near the election time but literally “almost all the time”.

Fadillah, who is also Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, was contacted by New Sarawak Tribune yesterday to comment on the State BN Youth’s preparations for the 13th general election (GE) which could be held any time now.

On the opposition aggressiveness in using the Internet to attract the support of young people or ‘first-time voters’, he said the State BN Youth was also aggressive in the cyber-warfare as the BN component parties had their own cyber unit.

“Nowadays, the Internet is an important tool for us to communicate with the people, especially the younger generation, and it is faster and easier to reach them through the social media and blogs, and not surprisingly, most of the bloggers are young people,” he added.

However, Fadillah who is also the Member of Parliament for Petra Jaya, reminded the people to be wise when reading articles in the blogs, especially those giving negative impressions of the government or spreading lies about BN leaders.

“I believe Malaysians are wise to know the authenticity of the news,” he said, advising bloggers to be more ethically “accurate” and “true” on their facts.

When asked to comment on a local political blog which was alleged to be funded by a BN member but seemingly too pro opposition, Fadillah said that “the attitude of hiding hands after throwing stones” could hurt the party itself and the people in general.
